The Beginning

Salty Silver began with a simple idea: jewellery should feel as natural to wear as it is meaningful to own. What started as a quiet practice of making—shaped by time spent outdoors and a deep appreciation for natural forms—slowly grew into a brand rooted in intention, comfort, and connection.

What you choose to wear reflects who you are and what you care about. Salty Silver jewellery is wearable art, created to feel like a natural extension of you—pieces you reach for instinctively, not just for how they look, but for how they make you feel. Every element is designed and made with purpose.

Wearable Art

Salty Silver jewellery is designed as wearable art, inspired by natural and coastal landscapes and guided by a sense of simplicity. Organic forms and subtle textures draw from the movement of water, weathered surfaces, and the quiet balance found in nature.

Each piece is intentionally understated, allowing space for the wearer to express themselves in their own way. Rather than overpowering, the designs are made to complement—becoming part of how you move, dress, and feel. Carefully handcrafted to be comfortable and effortless to wear, every piece balances sculptural form with everyday ease.

The process begins quietly, with observation. Inspiration is gathered from long hours spent outdoors and from the well-thumbed books that live above my jeweller’s bench, ranging from grasses, mosses, and ferns identification guides to studies of the intertidal zone. These references become a starting point rather than a blueprint.

Each piece begins with intention, but is shaped through making. All sterling silver used is 100% recycled, sourced from reclaimed materials such as electronics and medical equipment, and refined in England through responsible recycling processes. The silver is heated, formed, and refined by hand, guided by instinct and material response. Time is taken at every stage so that the finished piece feels effortless to wear—an object shaped by nature, but completed by the wearer.

Meet the maker

Hi, I’m Philippa, the maker behind Salty Silver. Alongside developing my creative practice, I studied ecology and conservation biology at both undergraduate and master’s level. Years spent learning about natural systems continue to shape the way I see the world—and the way I create.

I’ve lived and spent time working across Devon, Sussex, and Jersey, places defined by coastlines, forests, and ever-changing landscapes. These environments influence my work both visually and intuitively, guiding the organic textures, soft forms, and grounded feel of each piece.

My practice is a blend of self-taught exploration and traditional skills passed down from my mum, who first taught me to work with my hands. Every piece is designed, made, and finished by hand in the south of England, working slowly and thoughtfully, allowing the material to lead rather than forcing perfection.

Commitments

  • All Salty Silver jewellery is made using 100% recycled sterling silver. The silver is reclaimed from existing sources such as electronics and medical equipment, then refined in England—giving new life to materials already in circulation and reducing the need for newly mined resources.

Where possible, recycled gemstones are used alongside sea glass: a naturally reclaimed material, shaped by the sea and time, each piece carrying a quiet, curious history of its own.

  • Every order is carefully packaged using minimal, eco-conscious materials. Packaging is chosen with longevity and recyclability in mind, avoiding unnecessary waste while still ensuring each piece arrives safely and thoughtfully presented.

  • Every part of Salty Silver is thoughtfully considered, from the materials used to the way each piece is made, packaged, and shared. The business is built on intention—prioritising transparency, responsibility, and care at every stage of the process. Decisions are made consciously, with respect for both the environment and the people who wear the jewellery.
